We never get lost………….we just don’t always know where we are!
Why do we ride motorbikes? Simple….riding makes you a part of the journey and not just a spectator. You get to smell the countryside; feel the wind, heat, cold and rain!
Our motorbike training and rides tend to be around the Cotswolds, Wiltshire, Gloucestershire, Oxfordshire, Berkshire, Avon and Somerset and beyond, starting from the first town on the Thames, Cricklade.
The four tenets of Gentlemen Bikers:
Consideration – for other road users
Respect – for the roads we use
Attitude – out to enjoy ourselves
Patience – there’s no rush, so have fun!
The routes we take are always circular – that means when possible try to avoid coming back the same way we went! They also have to include a tea/coffee stop too!
The first town on the Thames, is an old Iron age town with Saxon ramparts lays just outside of the Cotswolds and close to the Water Parks is a great place to make as a base for exploring the area. 13th Century St Sampson’s church spire can be seen from miles around and indeed is lit up for Christmas and other special religious events such as Easter. At one time, approx. 10th Century, coins were minted in the town. Famously, every year in North Meadow some one-million or so, 80% of the UK’s population, the rare Snake’s Head Fritillary can be seen blooming from April to May. The high street itself is busy with typical small town shops, and boasts an impressive four pubs including one hotel!
A typical ride, Cricklade to Bibury can be seen here. Short but nice for an evening spin!
Another nice little ride that can be taken over lunch time and avoids the M4, leaves Cricklade and heads up the A419 to Cirencester and then onto Tetbury.
More of my favourite rides can be found here. I have used RAC Route planner for ease. These routes all have decent stopping places for that compulsory coffee/tea stop
Another ride we did, May 2016 was to the Alps. Great memories! Alps trip
